Red Sox Trounced by Missisauga SW

The Mississauga Twins came to the Milton Sports Center last night and unleashed a 15-hit attack against the home-town Milton Red Sox en route to a convincing 9-1 win. Ian Campbell led the way with 4 hits for the Twins, Michael Cardinale launched a 3-run home run and Chris Piccini registered a pair of doubles and a single.

Red Sox starter, Ian Zettle was saddled with the loss allowing six unearned runs due to two key errors. Zettle threw six innings and allowed 12 hits while walking one and striking out a batter. Riaz Baksh followed and allowed another 3 runs in the 7th courtesy 4 BBs and a hit. Rookie Brett Cameron threw a scoreless 1 1/3 innings and dependable Dan Todoschuk threw a scoreless 9th.

Jordan Petruska earned the Twins victory hurling six innings allowing five hits and one run while striking out five Milton batters. Tomas Rincon and Michael Cardinale shut down any Red Sox rally with six strikeouts between them over the final three innings. Milton’s eight-hit offense was led by Dan Apostoli, Kevin Greer and Brett Medland with a pair of hits apiece. Apostoli drove in the lone Red Sox run. Steve Lauzon and Orion Katayama added singles.

The Red Sox try to get back on track at home again this Saturday when they take on the Niagara Metros in a 1:30pm start at the Milton Sports Center.
