Rangers Battle Brampton to a Draw

The Etobicoke Rangers scored four runs in the bottom of the 9th to erase an 8-4 Royals lead and force an extra inning. The Rangers brought in Kyle Breitner who had just pitched a three inning save the night before and Breitner retired all three Brampton hitters via the strikeout thus giving the Rangers the chance to complete the come back in the bottom of the 10th. Etobicoke had runners on 2nd and 3rd with only one out in the 10th but Royals pitcher Steve Hough was able to strike out the Rangers 6th hitter and then getting the tie game out on a fly ball to left.

The Rangers took an early 1-0 lead in the 1st when with two outs 3B Ryan Panas and LF Daniel Murphy both singled and then Panas scored on a single from C Tanner Young-Shultz. The Royals came right back in the 2nd and scored three off of Ranger starter Andrew Hyde. Hyde completed three innings giving up six Royals hits and three runs He then gave way to Adam McBride who pitched two scoreless innings.

Michael Asta, making his belated pitching debut this season in the 6th, was roughed up a bit as he gave up three runs all earned on four hits putting the Rangers down 7-3. The Rangers did get one in the 7th to make it 7-4 but the Royals in the 8th scored their only run off of Brendan Lyons in his three inning stint to set up the dramatic 9th after a scoreless 8th.

The Rangers were led at the plate by SS Michael Ferracuti and Panas who each had three hit nights. 1B Kyle Bowers had three RBIs including the 7th and tying 8th run for the Rangers. RF Adam Raithby chipped in with a pair of RBIs.

The Etobicoke team now sits at 9-4-1 in League play and will get back at it next Wednesday night when they visit the Milton Red Sox. Game time is 7:30 at the Milton Sports Complex. The Rangers will then get back to Connorvale next Friday night when they will play host to the Oakville A’s Game time is 7:30 @ Connorvale Park.
